 | Securitisation of assets originated by Portuguese entities has developed significantly since the launch of the first deal in June 1998, Nova No.1, a DEM435 million consumer loan transaction. Since then new asset classes, including auto loans, bonds, leases and, more recently, mortgage loans, have also been securitised.
The implementation of the new Securitisation Law simplified the legal and financial structure of the transactions. It also allowed the securitisation of mortgage loans, which proved to be extremely difficult under the old structures. |
